More than 33,000 travelers of all age groups from 170 countries took part in the survey. The survey was constituted by Lonely planet. Australia was also most popular among British and American vacationers while Italy rated as a second hot destination, followed by Thailand.
As per the survey analysts, Australia bagged the top position because of its ‘iconic nature’ and “its placement as a long haul English speaking sunshine destination for UK and US travelers.
The survey revealed that Bali bomb blasts removed large number of tourists to Thailand while cosmopolitan Melbourne is gaining momentum as a short break holiday destination.
