Rio de Janeiro is a city in Brazil that has every possible reason to be seen once in a lifetime-some because of its unmatched geographical formations and some due to the Brazilian passion for modern architecture that resulted in invention of striking creations.

Conical shaped Metropolitan Cathedral; located in downtown Rio de Janeiro is among the gems that were constructed over the past few years. In a first instance, it may look like a mouth of an erupting volcano but soon you cannot keep yourself aloof, as the building is capable enough to mesmerize you.
The building was dedicated to Sao Sebastiao and Sant’Ana, patron saints. With its cone shape and exuberant stained glasses, the Metropolitan Cathedral is another one of the city’s postcards.
Its height and base diameter are at 75 and 106 meters, respectively. Rio Cathedral was completed in 1976 and is 83 metres in height (250 feet). Inside it is 12-sided, with four glazed walls of coloured glass reaching up the full height to a cross shaped roof of lights.
This exceptionally glorious building with a capacity of 20,000 people is not only one of the Brazilian city landmarks, but also a masterpiece of modern art. This is one of the attractions of Centro Rio. The building can be seen from any corner of the city.
