The Europian Union has barred 50 carriers from Congo alone, 14 from Sierra Leone and seven from Swaziland, Ariana Afghan Airlines, North Korea’s Air Koryo and Thailand’s Phuket Airlines, two airlines from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan effectively making sure that all airlines operating from these countries were prevented from flying to Europe. Both cargo and passenger carriers from Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Sierra Leone, Swaziland and Liberia have been ascertained to have an insufficient system for dogmatic control or have insufficient safety standards.
Some airlines have been allowed from these places where many have been laid with leser restrictions as one airline from Congo, Hewa Bora Airways, is allowed to use one approved plane for its flights to the EU, while another African airline, Air Mauritania was given a grace-period of a couple of months to meet EU safety norms. Air Bangladesh and Buraq Air from Libya, will be able to operate flights if follow the EU safety norms
Under the new rules, passengers have been safe guarded as they will have a right to compensation if any airline on which they were to fly is being included on the blacklist or replaced by a blacklisted airline after they bought the ticket.Inspite of providing favours to passengers EU would also endow with aid to African nations in trying to improve airline safety standards and European Aviation Safety Agency would soon get the powers to issue certificates to airlines who wants to fly in European skies.
