According to tech security giant Symantec, a laptop is stolen every 53 seconds in the USA - and 97% of them are never recovered.
Peter Firstbrook at Gartner Research says:
The key to protecting your personal or business data is encryption and backup,With encryption, you are preventing someone from accessing your information, while backing up your data is a safeguard in case your laptop is stolen, damaged or lost.
Or you could just take the following precautions:
• Use encryption programs, which require very strong passwords.
• Use the rugged SanDisk Titanium Cruzer USB drives it offers a built-in encryption software to prevent a thief from accessing your files.
• Use biometrics scanner so that only you can access your computer.
• Tracking services, which may use GPS signals or silent alarms when connected to the Internet can be put into the laptops
• Ask businesses who their wireless network provider is before using it.
• Finally you could consider locking your laptop to a desk or some other secure object.
Well I hope your laptop will not be stolen and if it is then now you will have some backup.
