After being closed for more then one-year Nero’s world famous golden palace would once again open for visitors next week. However, the visitors will access only half of the palace.
Irene Pignatelli an archeologist associated to renovate the palace said:
People will have the chance to get to know the monument itself and the efforts to maintain and preserve it.
He added further:
The aim of this type of visit is to show how the residence can be assaulted (by weather), how to intervene, and what happens after the restoration.
One part of the roof had been collapsed in 2005 since then archeologist has been working to preserve this world heritage. Prior to this incident, it had taken 18 year to restore this palace. The palace is under invariable threat of collapse because of the high moisture conditions inside the palace that causes the walls to break and fungus growth.
