The construction work is continuing on a large scale so that construction would may be completed within fixed time limit. So far, one runway has almost completed, while five other runways are expected to complete by the end of 2008,
With an estimated cost that can reach to $US33 billion ($A42.81 billion), the airport is also expected to be the world’s biggest cargo hub, with a capacity to handle 12 million tones annually.

Notably, the airport is part of the Dubai World Central (DWC) mega-project, which has initiated many massive projects in Dubai. In a short span of time city has transformed itself into a dynamic regional economic and tourist power with world-class infrastructure. As far as the real estate is concerned, no country seems to compete Dubai.
