Think big! It is a generation old penchant of humankind and engineers have been doing just that for thousands of years by constructing skyscrapers. But the extreme love for these tallest structures has gained velocity over the last one decade, particularly, in middle east Asian countries. You will be surprised to know that in the next 10 years around 434 new mammoth structures are to be constructed that will cross 50 stories. sky2_62

Shanghai in China, Dubai, Taiwan, South Korea seems to lead this new fancy. By now, Taiwan’s Taipei 101 is currently holding the crown of world’s tallest building, (1,483 feet) but soon it will be nudged by Dubai’s Burj, expecting to mount to 2,500 feet, however the constructors would not divulge its final planned height.

The question arises here that whether the temptations about skyscrapers are right in the present scenario, when we see the rapid changes in climate. Tsunami, Katrina, earthquake are consistently chasing us every time at any part of the globe. Threat of terrorism is adding more apprehensions ... memories of 9-11 need not to be reminisced. However, the invention of steel beams and elevators allowed ushering in the age of the skyscraper and architects and engineers are taking measures by ensuring safety features. Anyway, here we can only say that this will not be the culmination of modern architect in fact sky is the only limit...!
