The National Museum of the Marine Corps-American lasting tribute for past, present, and future U.S. marines will be made public on 13 November 2006. The museum expands to an area of 135-acres adjacent to the Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia. The museum design is inspired by the image of flag-raisers of Iwo Jima. In order to give a realistic touch to Corps’ history, around $100 million was invested.

Sightseers can watch an inspiring 13-minute film about the warriors in a small theater of art gallery. The Museum is designed in such a way that it projects the story of the corps and gives a chance to feel the great sacrifices of marine corps .

Majority of the museum shows the artifacts of World War II, Korea and Vietnam while rest of the exhibit covers making Marines, combat art and the war on terrorism. The museum offers varieties of activities for visitors of all ages; one can participate in an electronic quiz about an obstacle course or can try his luck in shooting by a laser-simulated M-16. However, for each of these you have to pay $5. Apart from this, you can explore the museum free of cost.
