The famous Stanley Hotel was built in 1906 and opened in 1909. F.O. Stanley and his wife Flora had their home constructed their home about one-half mile west of where the Stanley Hotel would later be built. Today the house is a private residence. And in order to make the hotel all electric, Stanley constructed a hydroelectric plant up in the mountains.
To be taken aback, every room of his was consisted with phones. Both of them were quite a luxury at that time. Since The Stanley had been a summer resort, the heat was not added until 1979.
