You might have heard of Stephen King, and you might have heard of a movie named ‘The Shining.’ However, you might not have heard of the inspiration from where they had it. Here lies the inspiration within...
The famous Stanley Hotel was built in 1906 and opened in 1909. F.O. Stanley and his wife Flora had their home constructed their home about one-half mile west of where the Stanley Hotel would later be built. Today the house is a private residence. And in order to make the hotel all electric, Stanley constructed a hydroelectric plant up in the mountains.
To be taken aback, every room of his was consisted with phones. Both of them were quite a luxury at that time. Since The Stanley had been a summer resort, the heat was not added until 1979. Otherwise, any heat would come from fireplaces on the first floor. In addition, it is at the most same as in 1909.
The Stanley, besides being a history that comprises the last quarter of the film ‘Dumb and Dumber,’ multitudes of tourist and celebrities have had the enjoyment of the Stanley over the years. Most famously, Stephen King, who penned down half of ‘the Shining’ in room 217. Stephen King also returned when the latest ABC mini-series was filmed here, either.
The Stanley Hotel has no familiar evil spirit here; the Shining was fiction after all, and the ghosts of F.O. Stanley and his wife Flora Stanley are thought to be around even now. In the music room, you can hear the music of the piano, which used to be played by Mrs. Stanley ever, or the presence of Mr. F.O. Stanley can be felt around or in his billiard room, which used to be his favorite space.
The fourth floor of the haunted hotel, which used to be old servant quarters, is rather more active with spirits, and the sound of playing children in the halls of narrow corridors can be heard very commonly albeit there is no child in the building.
If you really want the mystery of the haunted hotel to be disclosed and have made your mind to visit and to have the haunting experience of the ghostly sites there then, below lies the fast fact:
