Six tourist sites have been designated as Tourism Development Zones in an effort to enhance Zimbabwe’s tourism industry by the government. These include:
- Midlands Province Tourism Development Zone
- Rhodes-Matopos
- Kariba and Zambezi Valley
- Mudzi, Eastern Highlands
- Lake Chivero
- Manyame
A Look East Policy has also been started by the government to attract people from countries like China and Malaysia.
Zimbawe is a destination for adventure travel as well. A landlocked country, whose northeastern border is marked by the mighty Zambezi River, along which is located the incomparable spectacle of Victoria Falls.
Western media publicity over the land reform programme that Government embarked on in 2000 to address colonial imbalances had badly affected tourism. However 2006 was good for tourism with 45 percent increase in tourist arrivals. Tourism to these destinations will add on to that.
