Republic of Korea (RoK) tourist arrivals increased by 35 per cent to reach 207,000 visitors, leaping over Japan and the United States to become the second-largest group of tourists behind China to Visit Vietnam, according to figures from the General Office of Statistics.



Vu The Binh, director of the Travel Deparment of Vietnam’s National Tourism Administration, as saying. “There is now a shortage of tour guides who speak Korean and Japanese,” He said. “But I don’t think it is too serious a problem because most visitors can understand English.” He also said that Thai visitors seemed especially drawn to central Vietnam, with the beach resort of Da Nang plus World Heritage sites like Hoi An’s ancient town and the Cham temples at My Son.



These tourists have overtaken the numbers from Thailand as well as China . Chinese no of tourists have reduced because of a crackdown by the government on its citizens traveling abroad without passports.Whichthe government is doing to curb gambling.Vietnam’s official goal for its fast-growing tourism industry is 3.8 million foreign visitors by the end of 2006 and it seems to be right on track.
